The Missouri Tigers and Fighting Illini will be featured on the football field when the two rivals square off to open the 2008 season August 30th in St. Louis. Kickoff at the Edward Jones Dome is 6:45 and the game will be televised by ESPN. Both teams are expected to be included in the top-25 rankings that come out this summer. The Tigers are defending Big 12 Conference North Division champions, and are coming off a 12-and-2 season. They beat Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl. Illinois also posted a solid season. They finished second in the Big Ten with a 6-and-2 conference mark and were 9-and-4 overall. The Illini reached the Rose Bowl, where they were defeated by USC. A limited number of public tickets for the Arch Rivalry Game will go on sale July 22 through TicketMaster.
