The Mississippi Rebels have lost one of their top incoming freshmen.
Quarterback signee Chris Wilkes has decided to pursue a career in professional baseball rather than play college football and has signed with the San Diego Padres.
The unexpected departure leaves the Rebels’ depth chart extremely thin at the quarterback position.
Ole Miss opens their season at home on August 30 against the Memphis Tigers before beginning another season of conference play in the rugged SEC.
