The Indiana Hoosiers landed one of the nation’s top high school kickers for their 2009 recruiting class today, receiving a verbal commitment from Illinois star Mitch Ewald.
Ewald made seven of nine field goal attempts and hit 29 of 30 extra point attempts last season as a junior at Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora, Illinois. He averaged 70 yards per kickoff, with 85 percent of those kickoffs going for touchbacks.
Ewald chose Indiana over Notre Dame, Purdue, Northwestern, and Northern Illinois among others.
