California Receiver Follows QB To Hawaii

Powell

The University of Hawaii picked up another commitment for their 2009 recruiting class today, landing California prep star Deondre Powell.

Powell, a speedy 5-9, 175-pound wide receiver, caught 73 passes for 1,244 yards and 11 touchdowns last season as a junior at Gahr High School in Cerritos, California.

Powell’s high school teammate, quarterback Corey Nielsen, also committed to Hawaii earlier this Summer.

Powell chose Hawaii over Arizona, Cal, Stanford, and UCLA among others.
