Stanford LB Arrested On DUI Charges

It’s not officially the offseason until athletes start getting arrested every few days.

According to the Stanford Daily, and citing the Stanford University Department of Public Safety (SUDPS), Cardinal linebacker Shayne Skov was jailed and booked for driving under the influence early in the morning on Sunday, January 29.

The arrest, according to the report, happened near Skov’s residence at around 2 a.m. Below is a statement issued by coach David Shaw to the Daily:

“We have an expected standard of excellence and conduct for our football players and Shayne failed to adhere to those standards. It’s a matter we are taking very seriously. Shayne will be responsible to adhere to any legal responsibilities regarding this event, along with internal ramifications, which will be determined by the program.”

Stanford would not comment further on Skov’s future status with the team.

Skov was the leading tackler for Stanford in 2010 and had 19 tackles this past season before a knee injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.
